Get your engines ready!

Gingerbread house competition. Sound fun? I thought so. Enough to make it a double-date occasion! It turned out to be one of the most fun activities I have ever done. B-fleck and I brought our dates, Tim and Eric respectively, and let our creative juices flow within our pairs as long as they related to the themes that we drew out of a bowl. Ours was beach. Theirs was valentine. How much easier could you get? We had to race to the store to buy our edible products and make sure that they fit within our $10 budget limit. Then, the gloves came off and the mess began!

It was so fun, not to mention so cute to see the boys coming up with their own little details. Eric thought it'd be a good idea to add a treasure chest and volleyball net to our beach bungalow escape. In full, it made the entire house! Good call Geisse. Oh, and our competitors did an amazing job. When our time limit was up, we had neighbors come over and judge the finished products. Both teams got Jamba Juice giftcards as a prize. Thanks Fleckensteins for hosting such a fun night!

Heartbreak.

It's New Years Day. About 4:30. I'm still in my pajamas. Haven't brushed my teeth. Been ignoring a mirror flat out all day. Keep resorting to the candy drawer for my means of nourishment. Have I forgotten anything else? Oh. Yes. I'm heartbroken.....just read.

For those who don't know my family, we have nearly every movie on dvd that was ever formatted for a dvd disk. Serious. If anyone were ever to break into our house, the only thing of real value would be the dang movie collection. Perhaps we should consider opening our own Blockbuster....I could call it Walkuster. Hah. Anyhow..

For someone who claims to not have time as I do, I  can ironically say I have watched all our dvds. More than once. For a general number, we can round it to 10. How sad am I.

You can therefore understand how excited I get for Tuesdays, generally being the day new dvds are released to stores. More variety! Another movie I can watch 8+ times and memorize every line and body gesture! Life is great on those days.

You can therefore understand my super exuberant, giddy excitement for Tuesdays when a movie I fell in love with in theaters is released. Like HSM3. For those of you amateurs to my Disney fantasy, I'm talking about the new High School Musical 3. I saw it in theaters 4 times. I listen to the soundtrack non-stop and have even dubbed it the soundtrack of my life. Think I'm weird yet? For my sake, just call me their biggest fan. And to throw someone under the bus with me, my mom has seen it 3 times. In fact, for our Family Home Evening activity one Monday night, I was able to force my entire family to see it with me.

Moving on with my sad story. It seems like forever since I've seen it last. I'm waiting with particular anticipation for its release when I can see the bonus features too. I'm embarrassing even myself right now..

Okay. So it was almost Winter Break. School was almost out, which meant I had more time on my hands than I've had since the inception  of the school year. I had construed the idea in my head on the last day of school that the HSM franchise must have planned to release the dvd before Christmas so that Santa could give them to my fellow 8 year old fans in their stockings. That would be smart marketing, right?? I looked it up on the internet when I got home from school that day. December 27th. It wasn't exactly Christmas, but it wasn't so long as Easter. It would totally do! Before long, it became the only subject of my conversations. With family, with friends, with my pet cat Napolean--it was all I could talk about. And then, my whole family, down for the Holidays, even became excited with me. We planned an entire night out of it. Mocktails, a movie-thon of the previous HSM counterparts of the trilogy as warm-up...etc. Everyone was going to stay up with me till midnight on the 26th so that we could go to Walmart the minute the clock striked the 27th. HSM3 was all mine.

It was 11:30. Only 30 more minutes to go! I decided to go on the internet to pass the time. Unfortunately enough, I decided to surf the web-- and yes, you guessed it. For High School Musical.  It was then that I saw the reason for ultimate heartbreak. "High School Musical 3 coming to stores on February 17th." Ugh. Knife through the stomach. Tears. Anger. How could I have gotten the wrong date?? It doesn't matter.

My entire break was devastated in that moment. The dreams I had of watching it over and over, and then over again while I had all the free time in the world...completely obliterated.

You should feel sorry for me. My dad is obsessed with golf and ESPN college football. My mom is obsessed with refurbished crafts and any other creative outlet. My sister...obsessed with her dirty room. Why aren't they punished as I am?

Don't worry folks. I'm surviving. There just better be more bonus features now.

Oh so many secrets...

6 Very Random Things:

1} I'm reading Dracula for my English class and absolutely love it....which sounds so morbid and weird. Maybe it's the influence from the Twilight series I read this summer? Although those are so amateur to this tale! It's especially fun considering the Halloween holiday. Go Mr. Williams for excellent academic planning.

2} I love, love, loveeee High School Musical. I'm obsessed. I have both one and two on dvd and probably have watched both at least 47 times......I also have the soundtracks and know all the routines. Not to mention, a singing HSM2 pen that I use as my lucky testing utensil!

3} I smile when I text. Simple fact. No matter if it's mom, dad, sister, friend, or some lucky fella....I smile simply due to the fact that people care enough to take the time to communicate with me.......but the smiling causes people to think I'm having some super juicy, romantic conversation via the fickle text machine but it's totally just that mom wrote and said we're having string cheese and broccoli for dinner......which aint far from the truth!

4} I knock on wood. I finally started to allow myself to walk on sidewalk cracks. I see plenty of other people that do it and it hasn't broken their mother's back..

5} I don't like black licorice or mint peppermint patties.....ugh!

Ryan Sherman. aka Tony "the guppy" Gippeto, Big Dog....

.....some times he even makes me call him Master. Kidding.

Picture the exact opposite of me. Uninhibited, crude, always full of surprises, witty, a wee-bit lazy, definitely ADHD...basically everything I can think of that I wish I was more of, so I didn't have to feel so boring...well, this is my co-asb president. Maybe we balance each other out? I hope so. But let me tell you just a little bit about him.

First of all, this is the guy that on our "Be a kid again" dress-up day at school, came in nothing but an adult Depends diaper. NOTHING else. Yes, I'm dead serious. And yes, he was only a junior. He was sent home, (somehow extremely hairy, bare legs and his super freckly stomach don't qualify as dress-code appropriate..), but needless to say, Ryan made a lasting impression on every person on our campus that day. He brought his own new "Sherm-style" definition to "school spirit."

Take two. It was "Old school dress-up day." Ryan decides to take it down a notch. Well, okay maybe only somewhat--he shows up in a 6 year-old's Pocahontas Halloween costume, (I'd say he was going super old school), that barely reached the bottom of his briefs....ahem, you get the picture. (He managed to actually grace us with underwear this day :)]

Take three. For homecoming this year I was able to fulfill my High School Musical fantasy. I was cast as Gabriella....and who do you think was cast as my love interest Troy? My beloved Sherman. We were in charge of our own costumes...which we were instructed to base off a specific scene in the movie. Ry decides to change it up Sherm-dizzle style and wear a coconut bra and grass skirt instead. (This was after I assured him that no, the administration would not allow him to wear his speedo.) Was I surprised? Not really. Was it a hit? Absolutely. Here we are:

Take four. Homecoming dance. We're all in formal wear. He was actually being quite the gentleman...and just when we are shooting the picture, he goes in for his infamous shock value. Well, you can see what I mean, look at his right hand:

I feel like I need to repent or something. Even though he was clearly six inches from me..... Ugh, that's Sherman.

You can't help but love the guy. He's quirky and he's slick, he's teasing and quite the kick, not to mention sometimes annoying as a tick....but I wouldn't go so far as to call him a pr____. Nah, not quite. He's my lovable Ry....who gives the most amazing back-scratches and hugs, and will do anything I ask after a few good nugs....at the same time of being a little too obsessed with praying mantis bugs. I never tell you enough, but I sure do adore you Ry.

A year and a half later...

Okay, so I'm a blogging loser. Either that, or I just love that picture of me as a pirate wench. But my mother has been nagging me, so here's a brief summary for all posterity:

I left the pirate ship and went ashore...I continued living the high life at GOHS, went to Holland, three boyfriends later (no pirates), ASB president (ya I'm pretty cool), Trent got married followed by Danielle, almost forgot my little nephew Cason was born May of 2007, football season, basketball season, and football season again, yes, homecoming queen (it's a good thing my little sister has lots of friends), and here we are today...home from school with a really bad headache...and all my mother can say, "Get blogging! You don't have a brain tumor." (No offense to those of you who do.)

Destination 1: Goodbye Sweet Summer

This past summer has been the most eventful, entertaining, and enjoyable break I have experienced thus far. I am extremely grateful to my faithful summer companion Tim Ramirez, who accompanied me to the very last Disneyland trip, beach get-a-way, Storm's minor league baseball game, pot-luck picnic, movie marathon, even my last Taco Bell Crunch-wrap Supreme....which had become quite the caloric addiction. It was so hard to welcome the approaching school year, no matter how generous the back-to-school shopping spree that Mom offered nor the excitement for my 1st varsity football season. Nevertheless, the twentieth of August whisked its way to the surface of my calendar and it was time to say goodbye to Timothy distractions and hello to books, homework, and persistent teachers... :/
